Book Arts.
Produce a ‘book’ (or books) in response to your own creative interests that you have either brought to the course or that have emerged during the course so far.
From a graphic design point of view I wanted to create I book that could be easily read by someone, so I chose to use symbols associated with weather. These symbols are more effective to use as they can be known without a change of language, as symbols are universal language. I wanted to explore writing narrative without words to see whether this was effective.
The quote shown in the book reads:
Between 14th and 15th June 1903, the longest period of continuous rain ever recorded in Britain was 58½ hours long. Each raindrop therefore represents 1 hour of rain.

Manners don't cost anything, 2ØØ7

From researching the european culture I found that
manners aren't used in cafés. Using this as a starting
point, I decided to create a menu listing the manners
associated with eating.
Exhibited at La Viande Gallery Shoreditch

Excuse, 2ØØ7
An A3 poster. The brief was to create the best possible excuse as to why a project has not been done and excute it considering the fundamentals of typography, including proportion, form, balance, spacing etc.

A1, 2ØØ8

Exploring the standard format of A1, I produced this screen-print on perspex.
Exhibited at Sized Matter, London, 19-22 June 2008

Add-it, 2ØØ8

Our 5 person team came third in the presentations given to the whole year for a Marketing project. Using the four P's we had to 'sell' our product to a panel of judges and
our audience.
This is the Book we made that summarises what our product is and who it targets. Hand-bound and screen-printed.

type+solution = typolution, 2ØØ8
The solution to creating an ABC typeface is to create one
grid that forms all the characters.

Confidentiality, 2ØØ7

"Make the book that you’ve always wanted to make."
From this as a starting point I decided to make a book
from used envelopes. As Envelopes hide their contents,
I thought it would be a good idea to do something different
and entice the reader into looking through each window,
to get to the message inside. This was successful,
however it didn't have an effective narrative and from
feedback was difficult to understand what the book was
about.
